The Klockner Moeller name dates back to 1899 when Franz Klockner started manufacturing electrical switching devices in Cologne, Germany. Hein Moeller joined him in 1911 and developed the first three-phase oil-filled contactor in 1912.
In the 1940's Hein Moeller and Franz Klockner partnered to form the company Klockner Moeller. The Klockner Moeller name was used into the 1990's when they changed it to Moeller GmbH (Moeller Electric).
Eaton acquired Moeller GmbH in 2008 and Moeller Electric North America (Copper Logic) in 2010. Today, Eaton continues to be a leading manufacturer of NEMA and IEC rated contactors, circuit breakers, overload relays, VFDs, soft starters, load centers, and many other industrial control components.
